WHAT IS HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE AND ELECTRONIC WASTE?
Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) and Electronic Waste (commonly called E-Waste) are specific waste items that cannot be disposed at local landfills because their toxic qualities and effects on the environment. Because of these harmful qualities, they cannot be disposed in your normal trash, recycling or green waste carts.
HHW items consist of: pesticides, paints, mineral spirits (paint thinner), batteries, household chemicals and cleaners and other similar toxic items used around the home.
E-Waste items are unwanted electronic equipment such as: computers, monitors, printers, network equipment, cables, telephones, televisions, video games, cell phones, radios, stereos, DVD players, VCR players and other unwanted equipment that contains video displays.
These items require special handling and processing and many of the items can be recycled and used again.
